Vaulting
Vaulting is best discribed as "gymnastics on horseback" and is an exciting and different equestrian discipline, which offers and excellent way to develop balance, co-ordination and suppleness. You do not need to have ever ridden before to participate and is one of the best ways to introduce people to the sport of equestrianism.
Sessions run every Saturday from 12.30 until 2pm and cost £17.50 per session or £60.00 for 4 weeks. We allow vaulters to have four ‘taster sessions’ before we insist they become British Equestrian Vaulting members at £10 per year. This membership allows the vaulter to take part without waering a hat, as long as the trainer demms the vaulter capable enough to do so. Vaulters are able to work towards their BEV levels and may have a chance to compete.
We are lucky at Contessa Vaulting Group in that we have 3 horses trained to vault. These horses are a vaulable part of our team therefore vaulters also learn how to look after the horse and its equipment.
In 2009, three of the vaulters from Contessa’s Vaulting Club participated in the English Vaulting Championships and competing in the individual and pairs freestyle competitions, gaining two thirds and a fourth.
